Olympics in China 政治与政府

Do you think we should boycott it because they don't respect basic human rights ? Or not ?

I don't think we should punish the athletes that have worked so hard to get there, but we do need to pressure China's g'ment to stop their shenanigans.

It's our business on the Tibet issue.
Have you ever been to China? So,do you know the fact that happened in China?

What is your human right??Is that rebellion in somewhere, and use violence?

I keep seeing stuff in the news that they're really improving with the issue. They banned smoking in most public places for example, and they're trying to clean up a bit more.
'S'all good!
(I always wanted to say that!)

I don't know China that much and reporters might exaggerate the situation as they always do, but I'm pretty sure there's an actual problem over there about human rights..

To stay in a country what is not yours, that is the problem.

I think the situation in this country is... Unreal. The spoke about the dalaï-lama like if he was a terrorist... This men loves peace. He tries to speak, but they don't hear him... Maybe, at the end, there is no others solutions, except violence.

🙁

the olympics is all about the athletes. let's not let politics interfere in the event.

i think we should make pression on chinese 's gouvernement because what happen inthis country and the situation with the tibet is unfair!but could we consider that boycott the olympic games will change something?Im not sure...but it could be the begining of something more important!

The thing is that we have to do something..The olympic games, in fact, i think, can't be use like that...Cause they mean peace

If it's a solution for stoping the violence of a china' governement it's good. When i see military who killed tibetans it's very revolting! And this governement prefer violence except the words, it's not a solution.
The governement of china realize a genocide and repress the people. It's is damage because the culture of china is very important and beautiful but the governement is completely the opposite

please give me some links about Tibet issue...thanks..

it shouldn't be about the politics. just let the athletes go and compete.
nice

Yes... You are right...

But that is not just sport...There is a lot of money behind that 🙁

I admit I don't know well the situation in Tibet, but I studied this subject two years ago and, in my opinion, Onu should do something. That's true: I'm from Italy and it's very different from China. What I know is that Chinese Government is a bit restrictive and it's not right! I attended an English course in UK last summer and in my class there was a Chinese girl who doesn't know people like the Pope or (sorry for the following example) Madonna, the singer! My grandma doesn't know her too, but she doesn't surf the Internet and watches soap operas on tv. What I wanna say is that censorship isn't right and Chinese people must be informed of what's really happening in Tibet.

Ok, I'm off topic.
As for the Olympics, I think athletes must compete, it's too late to boycott this event (it wouldn't be nice after all these years of training),. The Tibetan question has been going on since more than fifty years.

The problem is that it's difficult to draw a line between non-interference in internal affairs and not caring about violation of human rights! China tells that the Tibet problem is an internal affair, while most of the world doesn't think so. And, probihiting foreign journalists form entering Tibet is not really helping the situation. Unless we know what is ACTUALLY happening, we will have to depend on contradicting statements from China's govt. and Tibetan people.

Coming to the topic, to say that Olympics and politics should not be confused...I don't agree with it. Olympics is not just sports...it means money, lots of it, tourism and sports for peace. When we conduct Olympics in a place where peace is being violated, Olympics' meaning is lost!

now, here,i am chinese.you guys should listen to the opinions from chinese people.
well, i think all your opinions are invariably originated from the instinctive hostility towards the country under the title"socialism".i hate this title too.it represents the repression, the tyranny.it gives the infame to every chinese,of course, including me.
but, believe me.that title is just a title.china is a definitely free, open country.otherwise, how can the olympic committee awarded the 29th olympic games for beijing? we are totally different from those so-called socialism countries.such as north korea, which is still insulated from the outside world;cuba, which has just permitted their people using cellphones recently. China is a normal country as yours.just somehow reserved the stupid tittle"socialism country".
just come and have a glimpse of china, you will understand what china now is.
